The landscape around me has increasingly shaped my fiction of late, especially since moving to Dartmoor a few years ago, its uplands forming much of the texture for my forthcoming novel. And for my PhD I'm looking at how place can be both allegory and remedy for psychological scars, a theme that features heavily in my second novel.
So I'm delighted to team up with the wonderful Graham Mort (whose collection Touch I reviewed here) to teach a week-long course on landscape and the short story. Located in the dramatic Welsh countryside, we'll be exploring the link between narrative / character and the environment, with readings and workshops. If this sounds something for you, here are the details.
