Just discovered this. There are hardly any left, it seems (probably fewer than a hundred breeding pairs), as one by one they’ve fallen prey to high street chains, that online one, and latterly Tesco. But I found this one, just half a mile up the road from my new home. They sell online, but if you’re this way, you should have a peek before it’s too late. There’s a lovely tearoom at the top too. ENDANGERED SPECIES

Thank you for this post in praise of Independents. I have a favorite independent here in PA, Baldwin's Book Barn located in a historical barn. In addition, I have a condo in Santa Fe, NM and Collected Works Bookstore, Santa Fe's oldest independent just expanded and added a coffee house (kudos for this happening during a slow economy). An added note is that, for the first time in its 88-yr history, Santa Fe Indian Market featured literary readings and book signings. Let's keep up the support of these independents!
Sounds like you have a healthy indie scene there, JK.
Tom- you live in Tavi? (Shows how out of touch I am with ex-MA people. I had no idea.) You must check out the book stall in the market too...
Hi Katy. How are you? Yep, I'm a first generation Tavistockian. Love the book stall in the market.
